Three days. Seven lakes. One campus that doesn’t sleep.

7 Lakes Fest is the annual festival of IIM Calcutta, and this year marks its seventh edition. It brings together three long-standing traditions of the institute under one banner: Intaglio, the business summit, Carpe Diem, the cultural festival, and the 7 Lakes Run. Together, they represent close to three decades of student-led events at Joka, and every year, they turn a quiet 135-acre campus into one of the busiest, loudest, and most memorable places to be in the country.

Since its first edition, 7LF has welcomed participants from over 200 institutions. Some come to win, some come to perform, and many come simply to experience Joka at its liveliest. Most leave having done a bit of all three.

Where business meets ambition

At its core, 7LF is still a B-school fest, and the business events are where the sharpest minds go head to head. Case competitions put participants in the shoes of CXOs facing real strategic problems. Business simulations, M&A challenges, and policy rounds test how well teams think on their feet when the numbers keep changing. Quizzes and debates round it off for those who prefer their battles fought with facts and arguments. The competition is serious, the judges are experienced, and a win here carries real weight.

The stage is yours

When the case decks close, the stages open up. Battle of Bands brings college bands from across the country to compete for the crowd and the trophy, and the energy on those nights is hard to match. Footloose, our flagship dance competition, sees crews bring months of choreography to a single performance. Add theatre from the Dramatics Cell, music, art, and literary events, and there is something for every kind of performer.

Test your grit

Some events are about talent. Others are about how much you’re willing to push. Joka Roadies puts participants through a series of physical and mental tasks designed to find out who holds up under pressure, and who doesn’t. Paintball turns the campus grounds into a battlefield where strategy matters as much as aim. And the Treasure Hunt sends teams across every corner of Joka, chasing clues through hostels, lakesides, and places even students rarely visit.

When the sun goes down

The nights are what people remember longest. The Comedy Night has become a crowd favourite, with last year’s edition featuring Gaurav Kapoor, who had the audience laughing from start to finish. The Concert is the peak of the fest, and in 2025, Ankit Tiwari took the stage to a packed crowd that sang along to nearly every song. And then there’s Prom Night, where everyone trades competition gear for their best outfits and the campus slows down for an evening of music, dancing, and good company.

Built by students

Every part of 7LF is planned and run by the students of IIM Calcutta. Months before the first guest arrives, teams are designing events, onboarding partners, managing logistics, and curating the line-up. Nearly every club and committee on campus plays a part. For those who build it, the fest is a lesson in execution and teamwork that no classroom can fully replicate.

The seventh edition

This year, the aim is to raise the bar on everything that made last year special: sharper competitions, bigger nights, and more reasons to stay till the very end. Whether you’re coming to compete, perform, or just be part of the crowd, there’s a place for you at 7 Lakes Fest.
